Christian Pilots Association of Alaska, Inc. is an
Alaska based, non-profit, interdenominational 501(c)(3) corporation.
Our mission is to provide transportation and
other services to pastors of the outlying villages, visitation, and
humanitarian aid when needed. On many occasions, church groups need to
move between villages and do not have funds for commercial transportation.
This is when CPA steps in and fills the gap.
Our services are not limited to pastors
and evangelists. We also serve lay people who minister through visitation
and Bible study. Some villages do not have a pastor or even an organized
church. It is a great blessing to these people when someone, especially
another native person, is able to come and lead a service or a Bible
study.
Our situation here is very unique within
the United States in that roads are virtually non-existent. Air
transportation is often the only practical way to travel from
village to village, and scheduled flights do not connect all villages to
the others. We regularly travel as much as 165 miles out from Nome, and
sometimes even further. Villages range in size from 50 to 700 people. But
numbers are not a consideration here. These few need the Good News of
Jesus as well as the many.
We, as pilots, are only pilots until we
arrive in the village. Than we minister in any way possible. This could be
anything from splitting wood or packing water to sharing a testimony in a
praise service. Ministry is not limited to just preaching the Word. We
also minister among non-Christian pilots by our own personal testimony and
fellowship with this professional group as many of us are pilots by
vocation.
