Alaska is America's
last frontier. With hundreds of miles between it's major cities, it is
the most rugged and untouched country in the United States. As such it
is a true mission field. Because of it's vast wilderness, it is very
difficult to reach small villages with the message of the gospel.
Gunther and Carmen
Camphousen, missionaries to Indonesia for many years, said that
"Alaska is very much like ministering on the mission field."
The
little things that those who live in the lower 48 states take for granted
like transportation and lower cost of living are unknown in much of Alaska.
The Christian Pilot's Association of Alaska's goal is to enable Christian
workers to spread the gospel in these out of the way places more easily and with
less expense.
One of the vehicles we are able to provide is missionary support. Missionaries and pastors in "the bush" feed on "outside fellowship". Many churches financially support the mission field. CPA can provide transportation for those who wish, to visit their chosen missionary teams. CPA have a vision of expanding this ministry to an all weather airplane, hangar and crew to support same and a first responder capable inventory to meet the needs of "bush Alaska".
